COVID-19 represents a significant humanitarian challenge which to solve is of utmost importance. Until March 12, 2020 more than 125,500 cases of infection have been reported with more than 4,600 fatalities. It is thus the highest priority to work together with governments as well as global and local health organizations in order to avoid further spread of the COVID-19 virus.
In addition to the horrendous effects on human life, the virus outbreak is already having considerable impact on supply chain operations, employment and general business health. Below, we outline the implications of COVID-19 spreading and describe sets of action that need to be taken immediately to stabilize companies’ supply chains as well as long-term measures to improve overall supply chain resilience for future crises.
